Despite the weather disruption, England can take plenty of positives from the day 2 of 3rd Test against Pakistan.
They had built on their strong work from the opening day. Meanwhile, Pakistan now face a major task if they want to get back into the contest.
The visitors will need another determined batting effort when play resumes.
They can take encouragement from the resistance shown by Azan Awais and Shan Masood earlier in the second innings. Their fight helped Pakistan recover after England had put them under severe pressure.
Pakistan have struggled to maintain momentum in the match.
Therefore, they must produce another strong partnership when the game restarts. The middle and lower order will need to show patience while looking for opportunities to score.
For England, the priority will be to maintain pressure and prevent Pakistan from building another meaningful recovery after day 2 of 3rd Test.
With more rain possible, the weather could still have a say in the final outcome. Nevertheless, England will be pleased with their position after two days of play.
