England have won the 2nd Test from Pakistan by 194 runs. England wrapped up a convincing Test series victory over Pakistan at Lord’s. The hosts won by 194 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The result also gave England their first Test series triumph since late 2024.
Pakistan chose to bowl first and made an immediate impact in 2nd Test against England at Lord’s. Mohammad Abbas troubled England’s top order with the new ball. However, Jordan Cox and Jamie Smith steadied the innings with important half-centuries.
England then slipped into another collapse. Yet Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue frustrated Pakistan with a valuable 47-run partnership. Their late contribution lifted England to 290. England’s bowlers then took complete control.
Ollie Robinson produced a superb spell, claiming four wickets for only 11 runs from 13 overs. Jofra Archer added three more wickets. Pakistan struggled badly against the movement and pace. Azan Awais offered some resistance with 46. However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to respond.
With Imam-ul-Haq unable to bat because of injury, Pakistan were dismissed for just 110. England therefore gained a commanding 180-run first-innings advantage. Pakistan needed something special with the ball in England’s second innings. Abbas delivered once again.
The experienced seamer claimed five wickets at Lord’s. That took his tally at the venue to 17 wickets across two matches. Rain interruptions also slowed England’s progress. Despite the setbacks, Dan Lawrence produced a valuable half-century. England eventually reached 208 before being bowled out.
That gave Pakistan a massive target of 389. Pakistan’s chase started disastrously. Robinson and Archer struck early to reduce the visitors to 14/3. Saud Shakeel and Shan Masood then fought back. Their 97-run partnership gave Pakistan renewed hope.
Robinson returned to remove Masood and Mohammad Rizwan in quick succession. Still, Shakeel refused to give in. He remained unbeaten on 78 at tea alongside Ali Usman. Pakistan reached 140/5 but still required 249 more runs. The final session briefly raised Pakistan’s hopes.
Shakeel attacked aggressively and moved rapidly into the 90s. However, Usman soon departed. Then came the decisive moment. Shakeel fell for 97 while attempting to reach his century in style.
Pakistan’s resistance collapsed soon afterward. They were eventually dismissed for 194, leaving England with a 194-run victory. England controlled the 2nd Test match against Pakistan for most of the four days.
Their seamers exploited the conditions superbly. Their lower order also added important runs at key moments. Pakistan showed glimpses of resistance through Abbas, Shakeel and Masood. However, they could not maintain that pressure for long enough.
