Rajasthan Royals continued their sensational start to the season with another dominant victory. This time, they chased down a huge target against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and secured their fourth consecutive win.
The Royals once again showed why they are emerging as one of the most dangerous batting sides in the tournament. Earlier, Bengaluru posted an imposing total of 201 after a dramatic recovery with the bat. However, the innings began in disastrous fashion.
Phil Salt fell on the very first ball of the match. Rain before the game had helped the pitch, and Rajasthan’s fast bowlers extracted movement immediately. Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced another explosive innings and left the bowlers helpless. The youngster hammered a breathtaking half-century in just 15 balls and completely destroyed RCB’s plans during the powerplay. Soon after, Dhruv Jurel joined the assault.
The pair launched an extraordinary counterattack and built a rapid century partnership. Their aggressive strokeplay reduced the required rate dramatically and shifted total control toward Rajasthan. Although Bengaluru briefly fought back and picked up a few wickets, Jurel remained calm throughout the chase.
The batter guided the innings smartly and finished unbeaten after a match-winning knock. Alongside him, Ravindra Jadeja played an important supporting role and helped Rajasthan close out the game comfortably. RCB struggled to contain the scoring rate.
The team had already used Venkatesh Iyer as their Impact Substitute earlier in the match. Consequently, they could not bring in spinner Suyash Sharma later during the chase. That decision left the bowling attack short of variety at a crucial stage.
After the match, Patidar admitted that Sooryavanshi’s fearless batting made the biggest difference. He also stressed the importance of learning from mistakes in a demanding tournament like the IPL.
Meanwhile, Jurel praised the young opener and described him as a rare talent. He added that Rajasthan’s positive approach with the bat gives confidence to the entire middle order.
For Rajasthan, the victory in match # 16 of IPL 2026 sent another strong message to the rest of the league. Their batting lineup looks fearless, their confidence continues to grow, and even a total above 200 now appears defendable against very few teams.
