Kolkata Knight Riders beat Gujarat Titans by 29 runs in the match # 60 of IPL 2026. Kolkata Knight Riders produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Gujarat Titans in a high-scoring encounter at home. The victory came in Kolkata’s 100th IPL match at their home ground and served as a major statement ahead of the final phase of the tournament.

For Gujarat, meanwhile, the defeat delayed their playoff qualification and exposed rare weaknesses in both bowling and fielding. After winning the toss, Gujarat chose to bowl first because of the threat of rain. Initially, the decision looked sensible as conditions offered some assistance to the bowlers. However, Kolkata’s batting lineup quickly turned the momentum around.

Finn Allen launched the attack with fearless strokeplay and immediately put Gujarat under pressure. Although the Titans managed one early wicket, they failed to maintain control during the middle overs. The turning point arrived when Mohammed Siraj dropped Allen on 33. From that moment onward, the New Zealand batter completely dominated the contest.

Allen punished inconsistent bowling, attacked both pace and spin and smashed boundaries all around the ground. Gujarat’s fielding standards also dropped noticeably as missed chances and misfields began to spread across the innings. Eventually, Allen fell just short of a century after a breathtaking knock. Still, Kolkata did not slow down.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green fully capitalized on the strong platform. The pair accelerated brilliantly during the closing overs and powered Kolkata to their highest total of the season. After the match, Raghuvanshi admitted that batting became easier because of Allen’s aggressive approach at the other end. He also joked that he would happily play on batting-friendly pitches like this every game.

The young batter further revealed that his intense training habits come from years of hard work under coach Abhishek Nayar. Chasing a huge target, Gujarat started positively. Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill attacked early and raced to a quick start during the powerplay. However, the momentum shifted after Sudharsan suffered a painful blow on the elbow and walked off the field. From there, Gujarat gradually lost rhythm during the chase in match # 60 of IPL 2026.

Gill and Jos Buttler attempted to keep the chase alive with an important partnership. Gill scored fluently and maintained the required tempo better than Buttler, who struggled to fully accelerate. Still, Gujarat desperately needed more explosive overs and failed to produce them consistently. Kolkata’s spin duo controlled the middle phase superbly.

Varun Chakravarthy bowled with excellent discipline and kept the scoring rate under pressure for most of his spell. Although his final over proved expensive, the damage had already been done earlier. At the other end, Sunil Narine once again delivered tight overs and forced Gujarat’s batters into risky shots.

Kolkata also received an injury concern when Matheesha Pathirana walked off the field after experiencing discomfort during his first appearance of the season. Nevertheless, the bowling unit adapted well and never allowed Gujarat to fully regain control.

After the match # 60 of IPL 2026, Gill admitted that Gujarat’s fielding mistakes proved extremely costly. He also described the defeat as a timely reminder before the knockout stages and insisted the team would quickly move forward.

For Kolkata, the victory highlighted their growing confidence and batting firepower. Their bowlers also stepped up impressively on a surface where defending a large total remained far from easy.
