Jasprit Bumrah star pacer from India was awarded the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2024.
The ICC announced the honor on Tuesday recognizing Jasprit Bumrah outstanding performances across formats. He defeated fellow nominees Travis Head, Joe Root and Harry Brook to claim the distinction. Bumrah became the fifth Indian to win this award.
Jasprit Bumrah played a pivotal role in India’s T20 World Cup win in the Caribbean and United States. He took 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17 earning him the Player of the Tournament award. In the final against South Africa his spell of 2-18 helped India to secure the title.
His standout T20 performance came against Pakistan where his 3-14 helped India defend a low total in New York.

Bumrah brilliance in 2024 extended across formats. Despite an injury that sidelined him during the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy his contributions kept India in controversy. He ended the year as the leading Test wicket taker and the second highest Indian pacer in a calendar year after Kapil Dev.
