Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman Ruled Out of Champions Trophy 2025, Imam-ul-Haq Named as the Replacement.

Pakistan has suffered a major setback in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Opener Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of the tournament due to an oblique injury. He sustained the injury while fielding in the first over of Pakistan’s match against New Zealand in Karachi. As a result he will miss the upcoming game against India in Dubai.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed Fakhar’s unavailbility. In his place Imam-ul-Haq has been added to the squad. The 27 year old batter has played 72 ODIs scoring 3138 runs at an average of 48.3. He replaces Fakhar with approval from the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 Event Technical Committee.

Fakhar played a key role in Pakistan’s Champions Trophy victory in 2017. His match winning century in the final against India led Pakistan to a dominant 180 run win. His absence is a big blow to the team’s title defense.

Pakistan had already suffered a setback when Saim Ayub was ruled out earlier. He twisted his ankle during the Test series in South Africa. With Fakhar also out Pakistan will have to adjust their batting lineup as they aim to defend their title.

After Fakhar Zaman Ruled Out of Champions Trophy 2025, now Imam-ul-Haq has more responsibility to bring Pakistan a good start in the big event. Imam has some experience to play in the big tournaments. He has to prove his abilities to perform in the pressure games.

Imam-ul- Haq will likely to play his first game of Champions Trophy against India in Dubai on sunday 23rd February.
