New Zealand beat Pakistan by 5 wickets in Tri-series final

New Zealand beat Pakistan by 5 wickets in Tri-series final. This is a big setback for Pakistan prior to the Champions trophy 2025. Pakistan’s recent defeats against New Zealand in the Tri-Nation Series 2025 have raised concerns before their ICC Men’s Champions Trophy opener. Instead of gaining confidence the team’s struggles have come to light.

One major issue is the inconsistent batting order. Fakhar Zaman and Salman Ali Agha performed well but the rest of the top order failed to deliver. Babar Azam could not turn his starts into big scores and Mohammad Rizwan was not at his best. Without a steady batsman in the middle overs Pakistan found it hard to set or chase targets.

The team also struggled against New Zealand’s disciplined bowlers. Mitchell Santner’s spin and the pace of Jacob Duffy and Will O’Rourke exposed weaknesses in technique. Facing stronger bowling attacks in the Champions Trophy will be even more challenging if Pakistan does not improve.

Pakistan’s fast bowlers led by Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah have been a key strength. However, they failed to maintain pressure against New Zealand. Glenn Phillips’ attacking century in the first game and Daryl Mitchell’s steady half century in the final match showed Pakistan’s struggle to break important partnerships.

Spin bowling was also inconsistent. Abrar Ahmed had some good moments but lacked control. Without a reliable spinner, Pakistan’s attack seemed incomplete making them vulnerable in the middle overs.

Pakistan’s strategy was also questionable. Poor bowling changes and defensive field placements allowed New Zealand to take control. When the opposition was recovering Pakistan did not set aggressive fields. This needs to change before facing top teams in the Champions Trophy.

Losing twice to the same team before a major tournament is a setback. New Zealand now has the psychological edge knowing Pakistan’s weaknesses. Pakistan must recover quickly fix their issues and regain confidence to compete strongly on the global stage.

New Zealand beat Pakistan by 5 wickets in Tri-series final the star of the day was Will O’Rourke who take 4 wickets in 9.3 overs.
