New Zealand has performed well winning the Tri-Nation Series against Pakistan and South Africa. Each team faced the others before hosts Pakistan played New Zealand in the final. The Blackcaps remained unbeaten winning all three matches.
Kane Williamson has been in excellent form. He scored a brilliant century while chasing against South Africa and a half century in the opening win over Pakistan. Glenn Phillips also stood out smashing an unbeaten 106 off 74 balls. Daryl Mitchell contributed with two half centuries.
For Pakistan Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha both scored centuries in their win over South Africa. Matthew Breetzke had an impressive international debut for South Africa scoring 150 and 83 in his two innings.
In India, the reigning ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champions dominated their white ball series against England. They won the T20 series 4-1 and followed it with a 3-0 sweep in ODIs.
Shubman Gill was India’s top performer scoring 259 runs at an average of 86.33. He hit a century in the third ODI where India posted 356 runs before winning by 142 runs. In the first two games India successfully chased the target. Shreyas Iyer impressed with the bat while Rohit Sharma’s century in the second ODI was among the best innings of the series.
With the ball, Ravindra Jadeja took six wickets at an average of just over 10 maintaining an economy rate of 3.21. However, England’s Adil Rashid led the wicket charts with seven dismissals.
Afghanistan performed well in recent ODI matches. They won a series in Zimbabwe in December and secured a 2-1 victory over Bangladesh in Sharjah earlier. Bangladesh struggled after that loss suffering a 3-0 whitewash against the West Indies in the Caribbean. They will aim to improve in home conditions.
Australia, missing key players in their Champions Trophy squad, lost a 2-0 ODI series to Sri Lanka. Their batters struggled in Colombo. However, bowlers Spencer Johnson, Aaron Hardie, Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis impressed in the first game.
