Pakistan Cricketers Fined for Breaking Rules

Pakistan Cricketers Fined

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has fined eight national cricketers a total of Rs 3 million for violating the code of conduct. These incidents took place during the Test series against England and the white ball tours of Australia and South Africa.

Aamir Jamal’s Major Fine

All-rounder Aamir Jamal received the heaviest fine of Rs 1.3 million. During an interview in the first Test against England in October he wore a cap with “804” written on it. This number represents former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s prisoner identification number. The PCB deemed it a political statement and took action.

Players Fined for Lateness in Australia

Three players were fined Rs 500000 each for arriving late at the team hotel. This happened during Pakistan’s white ball tour to Australia in November 2024.

Violating Curfew in South Africa

Four more players Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique and Abbas Afridi broke curfew rules in South Africa. They faced disciplinary action and fines.

PCB’s Stance on Discipline

The PCB emphasized that disciplinary matters are internal. They avoid making such issues public to protect players’ reputations. However these actions come at a time of intense scrutiny. Pakistan’s early exit from the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 has put the team under pressure.

Champions Trophy Disappointment

Pakistan the defending champions failed to win a single match in the tournament. They lost to New Zealand and India. Their last group stage match against Bangladesh was washed out.

Additional Fines and Refunds

Reports suggest that the PCB collected Rs 3.3 million in fines from players between the England Test series and the South Africa tour. The Pakistan Cricketers fined including Sufiyan Muqeem and Usman Khan $200 each for returning to the hotel two minutes late. However after Pakistan’s dominant ODI series win over South Africa the PCB refunded these fines.

Discipline remains a key focus for the PCB as the team looks to rebuild after a disappointing international season.
