Australia have won the 2nd T20 from Bangladesh by just 7 runs
Australia produced a remarkable turnaround to defeat Bangladesh and clinch the three-match T20I series with a game to spare. The visitors looked under pressure for much of the chase but responded brilliantly when it mattered most.
After suffering a series defeat in the ODI leg, Australia bounced back strongly and secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the T20I series.
Earlier, Australia faced early trouble in 2nd T20 against Bangladesh after choosing to bat first. The visitors lost three wickets inside the Powerplay and slipped to 44 for 3, giving Bangladesh an ideal start.
However, Matt Renshaw changed the course of the innings.
The left-hander played one of the finest knocks of his T20 career, remaining unbeaten on 89 from just 52 deliveries. He absorbed the pressure early and then accelerated with a range of attacking strokes.
Tim David provided excellent support at the other end. The pair added a crucial 95-run partnership that rebuilt the innings and shifted momentum back toward Australia.
Later Joel Davies chipped in with valuable runs during the closing overs. As a result, Australia finished with an imposing total of 196 for 5.
For Bangladesh, Nasum Ahmed stood out with an economical spell and two wickets. However, the rest of the bowling attack struggled to contain the scoring rate during the latter stages.
Chasing a demanding target, Bangladesh showed positive intent from the beginning.
Tanzid Hasan attacked from the outset and scored a rapid 30 to provide an early boost. Although Soumya Sarkar departed cheaply, the hosts refused to slow down.
Saif Hassan continued the aggressive approach and found support from Parvez Hossain Emon. Together, they kept Bangladesh firmly in the contest and maintained a healthy scoring rate.
At the halfway stage of the innings, the hosts appeared to be in a strong position. With 94 runs needed from the final 10 overs, Bangladesh looked capable of pulling off a memorable chase. The game changed dramatically during the middle overs.
Australia desperately needed breakthroughs and they found them at the perfect moment. Parvez Emon lost his wicket in the 13th over while Saif Hassan followed shortly after in the next over.
Those dismissals shifted the momentum instantly.
The well-set batters had laid the foundation for victory, but once they departed, Bangladesh’s chase began to lose direction. The middle order struggled to maintain the required pace allowing Australia to tighten their grip on the match.
Australia sensed an opportunity and applied relentless pressure with both the ball and in the field.
The bowlers kept striking at regular intervals and prevented Bangladesh from rebuilding another significant partnership. As the required rate climbed, the pressure became too much for the hosts.
Eventually, Australia closed out the contest and completed a memorable comeback victory.
The win represents a significant response from the Australian side after their disappointment in the ODI series.
Matt Renshaw’s match-winning innings laid the foundation while the bowlers delivered under pressure during the crucial stages of the chase.
Bangladesh will be disappointed with the outcome. They controlled large portions of the match and looked favorites midway through their innings. However losing key wickets at critical moments proved costly.
Australia meanwhile, can celebrate a well-earned series triumph after 2nd T20 win from Bangladesh. The visitors have regained momentum and will head into the final match full of confidence after sealing the series with a game still to play.
